HAVING suffered a home defeat in their first match of the season against Warri Wolves last week, Katsina United responded Sunday with a win away from home by beating Plateau United Football Club in Jos.

Reports indicate that the visitors silenced their hosts at the New Jos Stadium, with Sadiq Abubakar scoring the opener for Katsina United in the 12th minute, while Uche Collins doubled the advantage early in the second half.

Gideon Monday reduced the deficit for Plateau United in the 71 st minute, but it was a mere consolation as the home side could not stage a comeback.

This means the Peace Boys have started the league winless, with no points from two matches after losing their first game in Bauchi to Wikki.

On the other hand, Katsina United ended a four-year wait for an away win in the Nigeria Premier Football League with victory in Jos.

Plateau United will, this weekend, travel to Enugu to take on Rangers, who lost 2-0 in Warri to Wolves.

Godwin Oham scored one in first-half stoppage time, before Prince Ebhohon added the second 13 minutes from time for Wolves.

This means Warri Wolves have a maximum of 6 points with two wins from two games.

Meanwhile, defending champions Remo Stars came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over newly promoted Kun Khalifat in Aba on Monday, as the NPFL Matchday 2 action delivered another dramatic contest.

Kun Khalifat got on the scoresheet in the 15th minute when Henry Ezeonye converted from the penalty spot, marking the club’s first-ever goal in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

In other matches, Enyimba International FC of Aba defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna 1-0 on Sunday at Enyimba FC stadium, Aba, Abia State.

According to reports, Joseph Abiodun scored the only goal in the fourth minute, bringing joy to the home fans, who filled the stadium to cheertheirteam.

In Yenagoa, Bayelsa United backed up their win against Shooting Stars with another 2-0 home victory over newly promoted Barau FC.

Second-half goals from Wisdom Magbisa (59′, PEN) and Ofem Nneoyi (74′) sealed a comfortable win for Monday Odigie’s side. The win propelled them to the summit of the log after two rounds of matches.

It was a series of 1-0 home wins for Nasarawa United, Enyimba, and Rivers United over Abia Warriors, Niger Tornadoes, and Kwara United, respectively.

New boy Joseph Abiodun was the match-winner for the Aba giants, as Ugochukwu Leonard’s 10th-minute strike was the decider in Lafia, and Friday Ubong, who appeared in all NPFL games for Rivers United last season, scored the only goal in Port Harcourt.

It was a stalemate between Kano Pillars and Wikki Tourists at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano. Luis Dadong finished off an exciting team move to put the visitors ahead, but Sai Masu Gida equalised just before the break through Mustapha Umar. In the day’s final match, Ikorodu City were held to a goalless draw by Elkanemi Warriors in Lagos.

Earlier Saturday, Shooting Stars picked their first point of the season after a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance in Benin.
