Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has congratulated the Most Reverend Benjamin Kwashi on his appointment and enthronement as Archbishop of Chad under the Province of Alexandria, North Africa, describing the elevation as recognition of the cleric’s decades of service to the Church and humanity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang said the appointment reflected Archbishop Kwashi’s commitment to the Christian faith, leadership and service.
The governor said the former Anglican Archbishop of Jos had distinguished himself through years of ministry that extended beyond Nigeria and Africa, earning respect for his advocacy for peace, justice, reconciliation and spiritual renewal.
He also commended Kwashi’s contributions to the growth of the Church and community development through mentorship, humanitarian work and faith-based leadership.
According to Mutfwang, the appointment was not only a personal achievement for the cleric but also a source of pride for Plateau State and Nigeria.
“The elevation reflects the far-reaching impact of the Archbishop’s ministry and the confidence reposed in his wisdom, experience and unwavering dedication to the service of God and humanity,” the governor said.
Mutfwang expressed hope that Archbishop Kwashi’s tenure would promote spiritual growth, unity and peace while strengthening the mission of the Church in Chad and across the region.
“As Archbishop Kwashi assumes this sacred and historic responsibility, I pray that Almighty God grants him greater wisdom, strength, grace and divine guidance to shepherd His people faithfully and advance the mission of the Church in Chad and beyond,” he said.
The governor further expressed confidence that Kwashi’s leadership would inspire a new generation of Christian leaders across Africa and the wider global Church.
He congratulated the Archbishop on behalf of the government and people of Plateau State and wished him a successful and impactful ministry in his new role.
