GOVERNOR Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has congratulated Professor Elias Nankap Lamle of the University of Jos on his appointment as Lead Consultant for integrating peacebuilding into Nigeria’s National Action Plan (NAP) on Climate Change.

In a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Gyang Bere, the governor expressed profound appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Environment and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (USD), under the NAP Global Network, for recognising Prof. Lamle’s expertise and entrusting him with such a pivotal national assignment.

Describing the appointment as both well-deserved and timely, Mutfwang expressed confidence in Lamle’s ability to provide strategic guidance at national and global levels.

He observed that Lamle’s outstanding academic and professional background uniquely positioned him to make impactful contributions to Nigeria’s climate and peacebuilding agenda.

Governor Mutfwang noted that Prof. Lamle, a Professor of Anthropology of Conflict Management and Peace Studies, is a distinguished academic widely respected for his deep expertise in conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

He lauded Lamle’s intellectual depth, visionary thinking and influential role in shaping development policies and governance across Africa.

“Prof. Lamle’s remarkable body of work has significantly influenced conflict management frameworks and policy

interventions continent-wide,” the governor stated, adding, “His unwavering dedication to excellence, resilience in personal and professional development, and commitment to nation-building make him an asset not just to Plateau State, but to Nigeria and the global community.”

As Lead Consultant, Prof. Lamle is expected to provide technical leadership in strengthening the capacity of government institutions, civil society organisations and sub-national actors to design and implement climate action strategies that also foster peace and stability across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
