Heads of INTERPOL National Central Bureaus (NCBs) across West Africa have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in the fight against cybercrime.
The position was reached during a strategic working visit to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja, held on the sidelines of the 11th Annual INTERPOL Congress.
The engagement provided participating law enforcement leaders with an opportunity to assess Nigeria’s cybercrime response infrastructure and exchange ideas on improving cross-border coordination against cyber-enabled crimes.
Head of INTERPOL National Central Bureau Abuja, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olaolu Adegbite, described the centre as a key institution in Nigeria’s cybercrime enforcement architecture, noting its evolution into a full-fledged national hub.
He said the visit was designed to expose regional counterparts to the centre’s operational systems, technological capabilities and investigative approaches.
Adegbite urged participating countries to study and adapt relevant aspects of Nigeria’s model in strengthening their own cybercrime response mechanisms.
The engagement also underscored the importance of collaboration, intelligence sharing and capacity building in addressing increasingly sophisticated digital threats across the region.
