Last Saturday’s local government elections in Adamawa State were won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled state.
The Chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), Umar Madagali, on Monday, declared that the PDP won all 21 local government chairmanship seats and 226 councillorship positions across the state.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won all 21 local government chairmanship elections and all 226 councillor positions in the state,” he said.
Madagali said returning officers for the chairmanship and councillorship elections made the declarations at the local government and ward levels.
He added that the commission remained committed to conducting its responsibilities in line with its mandate and thanked electoral officials, security agencies and other stakeholders for their contributions to the exercise.
According to him, the electoral commission will only announce the outcome of the exercise held across the 21 LGAs and share the results with the public.
He urged those who won the election to extend a hand of fellowship to those who lost, stressing the importance of unity.
