The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Jos branch, has directed its members to resume lectures, examinations and statutory meetings following the payment of March 2026 salaries.
In a statement issued on Friday to The NIGERIA STANDARD, Branch Chairperson, Jurbe Molwus, confirmed that the university administration received clearance from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
This was shortly after the union commenced its withdrawal of services on April 8, 2026.According to the union, verification carried out Friday morning indicated that most members had received their March salary alerts.
The payments were based on reports across various faculties.However, ASUU expressed concern over the non-inclusion of the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) in the March salary payment.The union called on the Federal Government to release the required funds to ensure full implementation of the 2025 agreement.
It stated that the decision to suspend the industrial action was taken in good faith.It added that efforts would continue to secure the inclusion of outstanding allowances.
ASUU further urged the Federal Government, through the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, to take proactive steps to prevent future salary delays.
It warned that failure to address the issue could lead to renewed withdrawal of services at the end of April and in subsequent months.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to protecting members’ welfare while maintaining industrial harmony within the university system.
