THE Kaduna State Government has commenced massive construction of rural roads across agrarian communities to boost agricultural growth and development.

The drive is directed towards easing movement of farm produce, improving farmers’ access to markets and strengthening food security in the state.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Umar Abba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Zaria on Sunday that the initiative was also aimed at reducing post-harvest losses,

He said Gov. Uba Sani’s administration remains committed to providing rural access roads to strengthen farming activities and stimulate socio-economic growth and development in agrarian communities.

Abba added that the initiative was a collaboration between the World Bank and the Kaduna State Government under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

The perm-sec further explained that the ministry had recently conducted second-quarter oversight visit to some communities that benefited from the road projects.

The scribe urged contractors to deliver the projects speedily while maintaining standards.

Similarly, the Project Coordinator, Malam Zubairu Abubakar, listed some of the ongoing road projects at various stages of completion to include; over 50 kilometre Fala-Sayasaya-Ma-sama Gadas-Anchau Road in Ikara LGA.

Others are 3.5km Gora-Kwoi Road in Jaba Local Government Area, 5.6km Aduwan Gida-Fadan Kaje Road in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf LGA and 13.4km Illa-Kofato Road in Igabi li Sabon Tasha-JujMJi Barde Road, among others.

According to the project coordinator, all rural access road projects under RAAMP would be completed by the end of 2025.

He, therefore, appealed to residents and road users to sustain the usual cooperation with contractors towards smooth and timely delivery of the projects. (NAN)
