GOVERNOR Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has assured that peace has fully returned to the state, pledging that his administration will work with stakeholders to sustain it in the collective interest of the people.
Fubara made the remark in Abuja while speaking to State House correspondents shortly after a thank-you visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Monday.
“As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. Fubara and his principal are working together,” he said.
The governor explained that the visit was necessary following his return to office after six months of emergency rule in the state.
“You’re aware that the suspension was lifted midnight September 17, and I came in on the 19th. Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr President and to tell him that I’m back, and I’ve resumed my responsibility as Governor of Rivers State,” he stated.
Fubara added that the visit also provided him with an opportunity to seek guidance from the President to prevent any future political crises in the state.
“It’s not much. It’s a father-son discussion, telling him thank you, and the areas where, if at all, there should be any issue, for him to guide me properly so that we don’t be in any situation of crisis,” he explained.
The governor declared an end to his political feud with his predecessor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
