The Director, Education Resource Centre (ERC), Jos, Mr. Michael Bagtu Yawat, has commended the efforts of Gold Touch Management Consults for imparting knowledge and skills to youth on event management and decoration.

Mr. Yawat, who was represented by the Centre’s Deputy Director of Service, Hajiya Mairo A. Tukur, gave the commendation during a one-week training workshop on event management and decoration held recently at the ERC hall, Jos.

He appreciated the facilitator of the training for his passion for youth development and urged the 35 participants drawn from the 17 local government areas of Plateau State to make good use of what they had learnt.

“This free training was organised to give you knowledge that will guide you through life if only you make proper use of it,” he said.

He further explained that although the organisers could not provide starter packs for participants, they would improve on their efforts in future programmes.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gold Touch Management Consults, Mr. Michael Napkur Abel, who collaborated with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Education Resource Centre, expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the training.

He applauded the participants for their commitment and hard work, noting that the aim of the programme was to support Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State in his efforts to create jobs for youths and promote self-reliance.

Mr. Abel added that he was fulfilled to have imparted knowledge to the participants and expressed readiness to do more if given the opportunity.

Also speaking, the Deputy Director of Exams, ERC, Jos, Mr. Dong Zakka; Southern Zone Coordinator of the Plateau State Youth Council (PYC), Mr. Edwin Gambo; and the Deputy Chairman of PYC, Monica Noro Pam, commended the facilitator and supporters of the programme, urging participants to work together as a family to make Plateau proud.

Some participants who spoke to THE NIGERIA STANDARD expressed joy for the opportunity to learn a skill and advised fellow youth to engage in profitable ventures to avoid becoming liabilities to society.

Miss Nandir, one of the trainees, said, “My plan now is to join already established event managers who can help me improve and upgrade my skills.”

Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates to the participants.
