The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS) is expected to generate N64.9 billion as the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target for the state in 2026.
Chairman of PSIRS, Mr. Jim Pam Wayas, announced this while briefing journalists recently at the PSIRS Head Office in Jos.
Speaking on the milestone improvement of the service and its plans to achieve the budget target, Wayas disclosed that the 2025 IGR target of N52.3 billion was set for the agency.
He added that through staff hard work, the service generated N45.1 billion in 2025.
Wayas noted that the purpose of revenue collection was not to add hardship to the people, emphasising the need for continuous tax education and awareness.
The chairman commended Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for their improvement in revenue generation in the state.
He reaffirmed PSIRS’ commitment to surpassing the 2026 budget target of N64.9 billion, considering what was achieved in 2025.
Wayas said he was impressed with staff performance and urged them to remain transparent in their collections.
He disclosed that PSIRS was making efforts to reduce multiple taxation in order to avoid duplication of tax collections in the state.
The chairman advised citizens to cooperate with PSIRS staff during tax collection, stressing that the service believed in mutual understanding.
