The Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has charged newly trained officers of the Federal Fire Service to uphold discipline, courage and unwavering commitment in the protection of lives and property as they commence active service to the nation.
Governor Mutfwang gave the charge during the Passing Out Parade of cadet officers of the Federal Fire Service Regular Course 06, held at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Academy, Rikkos, Plateau State.
A total of 700 cadet personnel were formally inducted at the ceremony, marking the highest number of recruits to graduate at once in the history of the Federal Fire Service.
Governor Mutfwang, who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, congratulated the graduating officers on the successful completion of their rigorous training.
He reminded them that firefighting was a noble and demanding profession that required bravery, integrity, professionalism and the trust of the people.
He further assured that the Plateau State Government would continue to collaborate with the Federal Fire Service and other relevant security and emergency agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property in communities across the state and beyond.
The Minister of Interior, Tunji Olubunmi, who served as the Reviewing Officer at the parade and was represented by the Secretary of the Board, Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Jibrin (rtd), stated that in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Ministry of Interior had commenced a comprehensive transformation of the Federal Fire Service to equip it for modern emergency response challenges.
In his remarks, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, CG Samuel Olumode, disclosed that over seven hundred cadets underwent nine months of intensive and rigorous training.
He added that the 700 newly inducted officers, the highest recorded in the service, would be deployed nationwide to operate and manage firefighting equipment recently acquired and distributed to commands across the federation.
Highlights of the ceremony included an impressive Passing-out Parade by the graduating officers, tactical drills and operational displays by firefighters and women, showcasing their preparedness for emergency response duties.
The event underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening emergency services and enhancing public safety nationwide.
