Miango attacks: Son recounts father’s killing

Miango community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State recently came under consistent attacks from suspected Fulani militia, leading to the death of at least six persons.

Among the victims was a health practitioner, Abbas Musa.The late Musa’s son, Silas Abbas, narrated to SUNDAY STANDARD how his father was killed in Nzharuvo, Miango, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.He said his father was shot about seven to eight times by the assailants.“I came back home at around 8pm.

” I noticed that my wife had locked the door. She did not waste time to open the door.“Not long after I got in, my wife asked if I had locked the door. I said no and asked her to go on and lock the door.

“The moment she went to lock the door, the dog started barking and my late dad came out to check why the dog was barking. At that point, my dad was attacked and shot about seven to eight times by his assailants,” Abbas revealed.

Meanwhile, two more persons were confirmed dead in similar circumstances within Miango District.The National Publicity Secretary of Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM), Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, disclosed this in a social media statement issued on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

He said two persons were killed and three others severely injured in Nche Shwe Rishi, a neighbourhood in Miango town.

“At the attack at Nche Shwye Rishi, two people died instantly, three others were severely injured. Let’s please pray for the land and be vigilant,” he explained.
