The Crest Research and Development Institute (CRADI) has initiated moves to partner with the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) following a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening environmental protection and sustainable community development in Plateau State.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the role of the Local Dialogue Platform (LDP), a community-based initiative designed to promote dialogue and collective action on climate and environmental issues.
Both organisations emphasised the need to deepen community participation and collaboration in addressing environmental challenges at the grassroots level.
Chairman of CRADI, Francis Emmanuel, said the institute is implementing the BRIDGE Project through the LDP, which engages communities, traditional leaders, and local authorities.
He also identified key issues raised by communities, including illegal mining, environmental pollution, land degradation, water contamination, and damage to infrastructure.
He highlighted concerns such as water scarcity, poor waste management, bush burning, and unsafe construction practices contributing to flooding and erosion.
In his response, Director General of PEPSA, Samuel Nathaniel Dapiya, welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness to collaborate.
He commended CRADI’s community driven approach and assured that PEPSA would support efforts aimed at improving sanitation, environmental protection, and climate resilience across Plateau State.
