A 46-year-old man identified as Ahmed Mohammed, from Anguwan Hona in Girei town of Girei Local Government Area, Adamawa State, has taken his own life by hanging from a tree.
The Adamawa State Police Command spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident in a statement and said investigations have begun to determine the circumstances of the death.
Nguroje explained that the body was discovered at the foothills of Bagale Mountain on Sunday and was later taken to Cottage Hospital, Girei, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
The statement read: “The Adamawa State Police Command recorded a case of sudden and unnatural death reported on March 23, 2026, following the discovery of a lifeless body hanging from a tree at the foothills of Bagale Mountain, Girei Local Government Area.
“The victim, identified as Ahmed Mohammed, male, aged 46, of Anguwan Hona, was taken to Cottage Hospital, Girei, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“Investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.” The police urged members of the public with relevant information that could aid the investigation to come forward.
