Suns Sparks Basketball Club of Jos has emerged champions of the WESIE Basketball League after a strong and consistent performance throughout the competition.
Representing the North Central zone in the final held in Lagos, the Jos-based team dominated proceedings from the start.They defeated Team Impression 45–39 in their opening game before overpowering Blue Whales of Bayelsa 43–33 in their second match.
In a statement signed by the Plateau State Basketball Association Media and made available to THE NIGERIA STANDARD Sports Desk, the team’s dedication and hard work were said to have earned them a place in the final against Dolphin of Lagos.
Suns Sparks maintained their fine form in the final, defeating Dolphins 45–33 to be crowned champions of the competition.The victory further strengthens Plateau State’s reputation as a stronghold of basketball in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Plateau State Basketball Association, Dr. Chollom Paul Lomak, alongside board members, congratulated Suns Sparks for making the state proud.
Lomak said he would continue working with clubs, academies and stakeholders to ensure Plateau basketball reaches the global stage.
