Liverpool FC were held to a 1–1 draw by Chelsea FC in a tightly contested Premier League encounter at Anfield on Saturday.
The home side made a bright start and took the lead as early as the sixth minute through Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who curled a fine effort into the net from the edge of the box.
Chelsea, however, responded with renewed urgency and found an equaliser in the 35th minute. A low free-kick from Enzo Fernández evaded everyone in the box before creeping into the far corner, catching the Liverpool defence and goalkeeper off guard.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the second half, but goals from each team were ruled out for offside, while Liverpool came closest to snatching victory after efforts from Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk struck the woodwork.
Despite late pressure from the hosts, Chelsea held firm to secure a valuable point, ending a six-match losing streak in the league.
The result leaves Liverpool continuing their push for UEFA Champions League qualification, while Chelsea remain in mid-table but will take confidence from a spirited performance away from home.
