Karl Kumm University, Vom, has appointed Professor Yakubu Yerima Jabil as its substantive Vice-Chancellor, succeeding Professor Audu Nanven Gambo, whose tenure expires on 20th May 2026.
A statement signed by the institution’s Registrar, Benjamin Dachomo, said the university’s Board of Trustees appointed Professor Jabil after considering a report from the Governing Council.
A Professor of Physics at the University of Jos, Professor Jabil is a theoretical and mathematical physicist with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, academic leadership, and community service.
Born on 12th August 1970 in A’Baraya, Gindiri, Plateau State, Professor Jabil earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Physics from the University of Jos.He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Teachers Institute.
Over the years, Professor Jabil has served in several strategic academic and administrative positions at both the University of Jos and Karl Kumm University.
He has supervised numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil., and Ph.D. theses, contributing to the development of young scientists and researchers in Nigeria.He has published extensively in reputable national and international journals and presented scholarly papers at various conferences and academic forums.
Beyond the classroom and laboratory, Professor Jabil has rendered community and national service through election duties, church leadership, mentorship, and external examining roles across several Nigerian universities.
He is a member of prominent professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Physics and the National Association of Mathematical and Theoretical Physics.Karl Kumm University, located in Vom, Plateau State, is a private Christian university established by the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria and named after German missionary Karl Kumm, who pioneered missionary work in the region in the early twentieth century.
