From DAVID MICHAEL, Lafia
Supporters of former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu have accused unnamed political actors of attempting to manipulate the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary held across Nasarawa State on May 21.
The allegation was made in Lafia by the Director-General of the Abubakar Adamu Campaign Organisation, Barrister Musa Husseini, who claimed the former police chief had secured victory in the ongoing primary before efforts allegedly began to alter the results in favour of another aspirant, Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada.
“Our attention has been drawn to ongoing attempts to create confusion around the outcome of the governorship primary election conducted on the 21st May, 2026 across Nasarawa State,” Husseini told journalists.
“We wish to state clearly that the retired Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Abubakar Adamu, recorded a decisive and overwhelming victory across the state where elections were peacefully and successfully conducted.
“The results available from the wards and local government areas where voting took place clearly reflect the will of party members and demonstrate the massive support enjoyed by our candidate across the state.”
Husseini called on the APC electoral committee to uphold what he described as the authentic results from ward and local government collation centres.
He urged the committee to resist pressure, intimidation or any attempt to manipulate the democratic process.
The campaign organisation also alleged interference with result sheets in some local government areas, accusing certain state officials of attempting to influence the process.
However, no evidence was publicly presented to support the allegations.
When contacted for a response, the Nasarawa APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Augustine Ogaba, declined comment.
The APC has yet to officially announce the final outcome of the governorship primary.
