The Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Plateau State Chapter, has honoured outstanding veterans and stakeholders in the entertainment industry during its Industry and Awards Night held at the Usiju Event Centre in Jos.
The event brought together musicians, entertainers, creative professionals and supporters of the arts to celebrate excellence and encourage the continued growth of the creative industry in Plateau State.
Speaking at the event, the Plateau State Governor of PMAN, Gabriel Hodus, popularly known as Elmore, explained that the awards were instituted to recognise individuals whose dedication and contributions had helped sustain and develop the entertainment industry.
He disclosed that the association had established a recording studio to provide free access for creatives and appealed to government, organisations and well-meaning individuals to support PMAN in acquiring modern equipment to further strengthen the industry.
“We have opened a studio where creatives can record free of charge. However, we still need support to purchase more gadgets that will make Plateau’s creative industry more attractive and competitive,” Hodus said.
He added that beyond recognising veterans, the initiative was also aimed at inspiring young creatives to remain committed to developing their talents.
Support for creative industry
One of the award recipients, Mr Peter Asemoh, Chairman of the Advisory Council for Creatives on the Plateau and Consultant to the Plateau Festival of Arts and Culture, described the recognition as an honour and pledged to continue supporting the discovery and development of young talents.
“I appreciate PMAN for finding me worthy of this recognition. It will encourage me to continue supporting and mentoring young talents on the Plateau for greater exposure,” he said.
Veteran entertainer Nde Dantala also commended the organisers, saying the award would inspire him to continue contributing to the growth of the music industry.
Veterans, stakeholders receive recognition
Among those honoured were Sakmicit Solomon (Sak Solo), Mallam Salis Mohammed, gospel music legend Panam Percy Paul, Mrs Gadzama of Usiju Event Centre and several other distinguished personalities.
The ceremony featured musical performances by Arin Izere, Chebene, Greala Wake, MC DDK and other artistes, adding colour and excitement to the celebration.
The event ended with a charge to creatives to remain innovative, build sustainable careers and continue promoting the rich cultural heritage and positive image of Plateau State through their talents.
