The Plateau State Police Command has arrested another suspect in connection with the alleged killing of Ibrahim Mbaya, a student of the University of Jos (Unijos), bringing the number of suspects in custody to four.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this in a statement issued Tuesday.
Alabo identified the latest suspect as Tisloh Joshua.
According to him, “Sequel to our earlier press release on the arrest of three suspects in connection with the alleged killing of one Ibrahim Mbaya, the Plateau State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that a breakthrough has been recorded with the arrest of an additional suspect linked to the incident.”
He said following sustained intelligence gathering and investigation by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the command arrested Joshua for his alleged involvement in the crime.
“The suspect is currently in police custody while investigation is ongoing, and efforts have also been intensified to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large,” he stated.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that everyone connected with the incident is identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The PPRO assured the family of the deceased and the people of Plateau State that justice would be diligently pursued.
He condemned all forms of jungle justice and urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
Alabo also encouraged residents to promptly report suspected criminal activities to the police or other relevant security agencies to enable lawful investigation and prosecution.
