The Plateau State chapter of the Nigeria League of Women Voters (NILOWV) has inaugurated 12 committees to organise activities for its 30th anniversary celebration scheduled for October 3.
The committees were inaugurated on Friday by the state chairperson, Simi Dusu, at the Special Advisers Office, Favwei, Jos.
Chairperson of the Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission, Olivia Dazyam, was named head of the Central Planning Committee.
Theresa Azi will chair Contact and Mobilisation, Elizabeth Yerse will oversee Finance, Lilian Madaki will head Protocol, while Chundung Kele will lead the Venue committee.
The Media and Publicity committee will be headed by Patience Jatau, with Vou Pwajok leading the Secretariat and Alice Dimlong overseeing Accommodation.
Edwina Pam will head Programmes, Jethro Akuns will coordinate Security and Environment, Dorcas Ogbolo will lead Entertainment, while Sylvia Dabo will oversee Medical and Health.
Dusu said the committees would coordinate a cultural carnival, awards night and humanitarian outreach to vulnerable groups as part of the anniversary activities.
“NILOWV is turning 30 years and the journey is not a joke at all, that is why I urge you all to take this assignment with every intentionality and commitment and give in your best,” she said.
She said the association was established to promote the economic and political empowerment of Nigerian women and had more than 46 women’s groups as members in Plateau State.
Dusu urged the committees to complete their preparations within the three-week timeframe and ensure the anniversary activities reflected positively on Plateau State at the national level.
Responding on behalf of the committees, former member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Dinah Lar, described the assignment as a privilege and pledged their commitment to its success.
“We accept this assignment in good faith,” Lar said.
