Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has said improved security has contributed to the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s local government elections across the state.
Ododo spoke to journalists after casting his vote at his polling unit in Upogoro, Okene Local Government Area.
He contrasted the exercise with previous local government elections, which he said were marked by violence.
“In the past, Local Government elections used to be bloody. But we thank Mr President for giving us that confidence and supporting us to provide security for our people. You can see that Local Government elections are now just like a carnival,” he said.
The governor credited President Bola Tinubu’s support for the security situation and said his administration would continue working to protect lives and property.
