Aston Villa ended Manchester City’s seven-game winning run in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory on Saturday, as Nicolas Jackson scored twice to secure the hosts’ first home league win of the season.
Jackson was delighted with the result, saying the victory mattered more to him than his individual contribution.
“It’s my work, so I’m very happy to do it every time,” Jackson said. “Hopefully I’m injury-free, and then I will continue working for the coach and the team. I’m very happy that we won, and that’s the most important thing for me.”
The striker has now scored six goals in his last six appearances in all competitions, continuing his strong run of form under Villa manager Unai Emery.
Jackson credited Emery and his team-mates for helping him settle into the side. The manager had previously coached him at Villarreal.
The victory also gave Villa their first home league win of the campaign and ended City’s perfect start to the season.
