From AMEDU JOSEPH, Lokoja
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has unveiled safety kits for engineers and other personnel monitoring public infrastructure projects, urging them to uphold professional standards and accountability.
The kits, produced by the state Ministry of Works, include reflective jackets intended to protect inspection teams and distinguish government personnel from contractors at project sites.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony at Government House, Lokoja, on Tuesday, Ododo called for stronger collaboration between political officeholders and technical personnel to improve project execution and supervision.
He urged engineers to offer technical advice whenever they identified better approaches to construction, stressing that adherence to due process and professional standards was essential to the quality and durability of public infrastructure.
The Commissioner for Works, Salami Momodu Ozigi Deedat, said the kits would give government inspection teams a distinct identity during site visits, as personnel had often relied on arrangements provided by contractors.
He said the ministry remained focused on completing inherited projects and delivering ongoing road and infrastructure works across the state.
